As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, WBC crusierweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (45-2-1, 32 KOs) was taken to hospital in Warsaw after an overdose of antidepressants. We have been advised that he left the facility earlier today and was taken to a center where psychologists will help him. According to doctors, the mental health of the Polish boxer has improved enough that it was justified to allow him to leave the hospital.
The media has run wild with rumors and speculation about the nature of the incident and the reasons for why it happened. For now, for obvious reasons, no official position has been taken by Wlodarczyk or his promoter. But nobody can rule out the possibility of a botched suicide attempt. Most of the stories are pointing to family problems.
