Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, NV - Sergey Kovalev insists he didn't want his victory over Nadjib Mohammedi to end so quickly. Kovalev demolished his over matched opponent in three rounds but said that he doesn't learn very much with early nights at the office.
"With each fight I try to get more experience. With this fight I didn't get much experience because it was too short. I tried to make it go longer but I couldn't make it last longer," Kovalev explained.
Main Events' CEO Kathy Duva said that she would like Kovalev's next fight to take place in Moscow, Russia in November. Kovalev hasn't fought in his native Russia since becoming a star on HBO. The fight would be his first at home since December, 2011.
He said that he is very motivated at the prospects of fighting in front of his countrymen.
"I am excited. I can't wait to go home and see my family. My mother and father and brothers and sisters. I have a big family Russia. I can't wait to go back and give good boxing for my fans. My fans are asking when I will be back in Russia fighting and that is what we are trying to do," Kovalev told BoxingScene.com.
