23-year-old Russian welterweight contender Konstantin Ponomarev (29-0, 13KOs) is booked to return on April 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
His next fight will take place as part of the big pay-per-view which features Manny Pacquiao facing Timothy Bradley for a third time.
According to the director of Ural Boxing Promotion, Alexei Vasiliev, the opponent will be unbeaten 32-year-old Brad Solomon (26-0, 9KOs).
"The contract for the bout has not been signed, but the agreement has been reached with Solomon's team. We have already reached a deal, " said Alexei. "It will be a 10-round bout, in which Konstantin will defend his NABF welterweight title."
Ponomarev had a good year in 2015. He won a decision over Steve Claggett at the star in January, return in May to upset hot Canadian prospect Mikael Zewski and then came back in November to defeat Rames Agaton.
Solomon was in action twice in 2015. He had a very close call in a split decision won over Adrian Granados on the Mayweather-Pacquiao undercard in May. Some observers felt he lost that fight and he was in a lot of trouble late in the fight. He did better in his Raymond Serrano unanimous decision win in October.
