As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, the WBO stripped their junior middleweight champion Sergei Dzinziruk of his title. Lukas Konecny, mandatory challenger, will now face another Ukrainian Zaurbek Baysangurov for WBO title. The WBO elevated Baysangurov from interim champion to full champion.
Dzinziruk was scheduled to face Konecny on September 30, but withdrew with a training injury. He claimed to have suffered a cut eye in training, but according to the lastest rumors, which haven't been confirmed, Dzinziruk is having serious problems making the weight and doesn't have any intention of ever fighting again.
With respect to Konecny, he will likely relinquish the EBU title which paves the way for Siarhei Rabechenka, and most likely Frenchman Cedric Vitu, to fight for the vacant belt.
