According to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (63-3, 53KOs), a unification with newly crowned WBC champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32KOs) is a logical fight in the near future.
On April 25th at New York's Madison Square Garden, Klitschko will return to the ring in the United States for the first since 2008. He will defend his arsenal of titles against unbeaten challenger Bryant Jennings (19-0, 10KOs).
Wilder, who captured the title last month with a big win over Bermane Stiverne, is looking to make his first defense in the summer.
Klitschko is focused on Jennings, and likely will face Tyson Fury up next in a WBO mandatory defense - but then Wilder will become the first order of business.
"I know Deontay very well, because he was my sparring partner before the Mariusz Wach fight in 2012. We had time to spend with each other inside of the ring as sparring partners and [we spent time] outside [of the ring]. I'm his fan because I haven't accomplished what he's done - he's a champion with one of the highest KO ratings in history, the history of the champions. I think for the public, I think its great for the public to have someone here in the U.S. who is the champion and it's going to lead us to a unification fight - that is logical. I think we need to do it and we have to do it," Klitschko said.
