The dates and venues for two of the most anticipated heavyweight fights in the last few years are in the process of being finalized. WBO/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49KOs) is reportedly going to unify with his WBA rival, David Haye (25-1, 23KOs), on July 2 in a soccer stadium in Hamburg, Germany. The soccer stadium is capable of seating over 55,000 fans.
Older brother Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39KOs) will defend his WBC championship against mandatory challenger Tomasz Adamek (44-1, 28KOs) on September 10 in the city of Wroclaw in Poland. The bout will held in a new soccer stadium which is going to be completed by June and seats 42,000 fans. The stadium is being built to host the Euro 2012 soccer matches. Adamek's manager and co-promoter Ziggy Rozalski made the announcement to the Polish press.
“The city’s bid is supported by the fact that [the fight] could create additional revenue related to the opening of the stadium this year. The second plus is that it will be easier to get a larger group of supporters from Germany there, which is where Klitschko is based,” Polish boxing promoter Andrzej Wasilewski told the sport.pl web site.
