As if fight week hadn’t been unsettling enough for the Fury camp in the build-up to his world heavyweight title challenge against Wladimir Klitschko, there has been another setback.

The team went to the ESPRIT Arena in Düsseldorf earlier today to check out their surroundings and the canvas of the ring in which the IBF, WBO, IBO and WBA Super belts will be contested and found that the surface was like a sandpit.

They were incensed by the unacceptability of the canvas which topped the 24-foot ring and attempts are being made for it to be changed.

But the latest is that the British Boxing Board of Control chief, Robert Smith, has called the canvas “totally unacceptable,” according to Tyson Fury’s trainer Peter, who himself has said that it takes just one hour to remove the foam off the canvas.
