BoxingScene.com recently caught up with legendary promoter Don King in Las Vegas, NV. Although the Hall of Famer's stable of fighters has taken a big hit in recent years, King was able to secure the rights to the WBC heavyweight eliminator between Chris Arreola and DKP fighter Bermane Stiverne, as reported by Boxingscene's Rick Reeno.
King surprised many by submitting purse bid totaling a whopping $1.1 million dollars which was more than double of any of the other offers submitted. King told BoxingScene that he submitted such a big offer because that is what the boxers deserve for a fight of this magnitude.
"It puts value back in the game. You can tell by the size of the other bids that they don't value what is really a super fight. They are trying to minimize when they should maximize," King opined.
Details of the fight still have to be ironed out but now that King has won the purse bid he said that he will begin working on a network and venue for the fight.
"I don't have a venue or time table yet. I won the bid and now I need to talk to the different people to see how to make it work," said King.
