Promoter Don King is feeling very confident about Ricardo Mayorga's ability to upset WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto on March 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayorga (29-7-1, 22 knockouts) of Managua, Nicaragua, will challenge Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs) of Puerto Rico, in the main event of a Showtime pay-per-view.

King is already leading the march for a fall showdown between Mayorga and eight-division titlist Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs), who owns the WBC 154-pound title and the WBO's title at 147-pounds. Pacquiao defends his welterweight crown on May 7 in Las Vegas against "Sugar" Shane Mosley. King has approached Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum about a potential Pacquiao-Mayorga fight in November. Arum also promotes Mayorga's March opponent, Cotto.

"Don King is already talking about how Ricardo Mayorga is going to upset Miguel Cotto, and then, he's going to present Mayorga as an opponent for Manny Pacquiao in November," said Arum. "But, you know, that's the world according to Don King. You know, that's Don King talking."

King is really pressing all of this lol But I think that the real fight for Mayorga would be to take on Julio Cesar Chavez jr. This would be a tough test for Chavez and can you imagine the things Mayorga would say? "Pinche Hijo de puta, Yo voy a ser tu nuevo papi" :boxing:

I can already see the evil brewing in Uncle Bobs dark old cobweb infested sinister mind......must be a magical place.

mayorga fits the "fighting pacquiao" requirements.... *old *shot *average boxing ability *willing to agree to a catch-weight *coming off a lost(he'll lose to cotto)

Mayorga was a bad fighter when he was a good one, many years ago...he is a tough, but wild fighter who cannot stand up to the skill of Cotto...Cotto is using him as a warm-up, hopefully for a re-match with Margarito...four rounds, Mayorga is done.
