AMIR KHAN’S hopes of getting revenge for his mate Ricky Hatton are in tatters.

Khan had been in talks with Vyacheslav Senchenko, the Ukrainian who ended the Hitman’s career in November.

But Senchenko refused to cave in to Khan’s demand that he would have to weigh no more than 144lb for the contest.

Gutted Khan walked away from the fight after the former WBA welterweight champion insisted they boxed at 146lb.

The Bolton fighter, 26, is likely to box on April 20 in either London or the United States, with Mexican pair Humberto Soto and Pablo Cesar Cano under consideration.

Khan would prefer to have his first fight in Britain since April 2011, but would face a wage cut, with his American TV paymasters Showtime paying less.

Richard Schaefer, CEO of his promoters Golden Boy, said: “Showtime is open to doing a fight from England, but the question then will be the licence fee and the opponent.

“When Amir entered into the multi-fight deal, it was tied to some pretty big names.

“But if you are fighting in the UK, it doesn’t make sense for the big names because of the time difference. The fee for an overseas fight will be less, so we are talking about it.”
