AMIR KHAN has hit out at Danny Garcia and his trash-talking father ahead of their clash in Las Vegas.
Khan meets Garcia on July 14 with the WBC and WBA world light-welterweight titles at stake – but the Bolton fighter is sick of the stick from his opponent’s camp.
Garcia has dismissed Khan as overhyped and protected, with his father Angel also getting stuck in with jibes about his ethnic background and religion.
But Khan said: “He’s trying to get under my skin. He can say what he wants, it’s not going to get to me.
“Even his dad has been doing it. It just motivates me to train harder, when opponents start mouthing off, to get into that ring and knock him out. It just makes them look stupid because it will not get under my skin or break my mental focus.”
Khan, 25, claims the Garcias are trying to unnerve him because they know he is better than the newly-crowned WBC champion.
He said: “I think they know deep down that I’m the better fighter. They can’t beat me any other way other than trying to beat me mentally.
“They can say what they want, it won’t bother me or break me mentally. His father and him are more bothered about other things than the fight itself.”
• KHAN v Garcia will be live on Sky Sports 1 on July 15 at 2am.
