The negotiations are far more serious than they've ever been, but British star Amir Khan highly doubts that a Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight will happen on May 2nd.

Khan has a stake in the outcome as he wants to fight both of them in May. He personally met with Pacquiao two weeks ago in London and the two former sparring partners had a pleasant conversation about facing each other this year. Last Tuesday, Pacquiao met face to face with Mayweather in Miami and the two of them had a productive conversation about fighting in May.

Khan believes a fight against Mayweather will be much easier to make because they share the same manager/adviser in Al Haymon, and also because there won't be any network conflicts. One of the biggest issues in making Mayweather-Pacquiao is the network battle between HBO and Showtime. HBO has Pacquiao and Mayweather fights under Showtime. Khan's last four fights have been carried by Showtime.

"Honestly that fight will never happen, in my opinion. I spoke to Manny Pacquiao and, obviously, we speak to Mayweather and his team. I can't really see that fight happening, there is too much politics with that fight. There's different promotions teams and different management teams - I don't think they will let that fight happen," Khan told BT Sport.

"If it does happen, I'm a big boxing fan and I would love to see it. I want either one of those guys, if they are fighting each other then I can't argue because I would love to see that fight like everyone else. It's a fight I've always waited for but it's taken so long that I can't see it happening."
