Khabib Allakhverdiev is Heading To Top Rank, Says Arum

By Rick Reeno

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has advised that his company is signing undefeating IBO/WBA "regular" Khabib Allakhverdiev (18-0, 8KOs). Khabib is promoted in Europe by the influental Vladimir Hyrunov.

As BoxingScene previously reported, discussion are ongoing for Khabib to make his Top Rank debut as the co-feature to the HBO televised rematch between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado, which takes place on March 30th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Khabib's potential opponent is Karim Mayfield (17-0-1, 10KOs).

Khabib had a banner year in 2012 and became a player at 140-pounds. He destroyed Kaizer Mabuza in fours rounds in June, and then traveled to Florida in November to win the WBA championship with a technical decision over previously undefeated Joan Guzman.

This is a great move for Top Rank. They finally have someone Bradley can fight with a pulse since they don't want to risk Rios.
