Kermit Cintron, a hard-punching former world champion, has signed with Top Rank. Bob Arum made the announcement today at a press conference in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
Cintron, born in Carolina, Puerto Rico, is a hard puncher who is rated WBO #4, IBF #7 at 154 pounds.

"Kermit can fight at either 147 pounds or 154 pounds," said his co-manager Josh Dubin. "He was in the welterweight division for a long time when we got opportunities to fight at a higher weight, starting when we took a short-notice fight to take on Sergio Martinez at super welterweight."

Dubin and James Prince are co-managers of Cintron who has a record of 31-2-1 with 27 knockouts.

"Kermit is a big puncher with knockout power," said chief trainer Ronnie Shields. "I've been with Kermit for  his last five fights. He can take you out with either hand. There is a lot of excitement when Kermit gets into the ring."

Kermit said "I have loved boxing since I was a little kid. My uncle took me to the gym for the first time. I started  boxing when I was around 19 years old. I had 27 amateur fights and won  23 of those. As a pro, I've been in a lot of big fights."
Todd duBoef, president of Top Rank, said Cintron's debut fight with Top Rank will soon be announced.

In my opinion, he would've knocked out Williams if Paul didn't drag out Kermit after he tripped himself. Kermit wanted to get up but the doctor told him to not move. So he listened and ...
I don't want to see Cintron.... at all. How has he got this deal after the Williams fight?!
In case you didn't notice, Williams got rocked twice in that fight before Williams ****ed it up. Everybody saw the samething and that is Paul cannot take a power shot in the upper...
They state Cintron's record as 31-2-1 but he lost to Paul Williams by a 4th round technical decision. He lost twice to Margarito, had a gift draw vs. Martinez then flew out of the ring and lost to Williams. Plus he has 32 wins according to box-rec, not 31. His record should read...
