BoxingScene.com has learned that welterweight prospect Kenneth Diaz (6-0, 5KOs) was gunned down in a shootout in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico this evening. The Puerto Rican prospect was only 21-years-old.

He died shortly after arriving to the emergency room in Rio Piedras. Two other men were injured in the shootout.

Police are currently looking for the motive behind the shooting.

On an island the size of Rhode Island there are on average 3 murders a day....Something has to be done. Sad.

This sh1t is getting out of hand down there. We have already lost so many boxing figures in 2012 we don't need 2013 to start off like this.

terrible...this island on a per capita basis dwarfs most major US cities in homicides...Hector's shooters never caught, though, apparently there was reliable inof on the vehilce and plates...
