SILVERDOME, PONTIAC, MICHIGAN - Welterweight prospect James De la Rosa's (20-1) near 15 month layoff was evident when he was upset by Allen Conyers (12-4) via unanimous decision. The scores were 95-92 on all three judges scorecards.

De la Rosa was slow and lethargic throughout the contest. De la Rosa was wobbled badly on a couple of occasions in the first round and was fortunate to survive the round.  The second round wasn't any better for De la Rosa as a right uppercut sent him to the canvas early in the round.  The fight turned in De la Rosa's favor in the third round as he began to land several power shots and he followed it up with a strong fourth round as Conyers began to slow down.  Conyers landed a few hard shots in the fifth round but it wasn't enough to win the round.  De la Rosa's lackadaisical defense caught up with him again in the 6th as he went down from a big right hook to the head.

The seventh round was a lot closer round as the action slowed in comparision to the previous few rounds.  De la Rosa went down again in the 8th round as Conyers began to dominate the fight like he did in the opening rounds.  A left hook to the head was the punch that sent De la Rosa to the canvas.  Conyers followed that up with a strong 9th round as De la Rosa's punches began to lose steam.  De la Rosa came out with a sense of urgency in the 10th and final round but it was too little too late.

Kendall Holt's (26-4) first fight under Gary Shaw Promotions ended with a bang as he knocked out Lenin Arroyo (20-15-1) at the 1:50 mark of the 1st round.  Holt unloaded with a vicious left hook to Arroyo's temple and the fight was waved off a few seconds later. The fight was fought at a catchweight of 144 lbs. as Holt looks to make a run in the welterweight division.
