Former British welterweight champion Kell Brook has announced his intention to supply Paul “The Punisher” Williams with a comeback opponent this summer as both men look to get back in the ring for the first time this year.
The Sheffield fighter, who is undefeated in 23 fights, with 16 knockouts on his impressive record is number one contender to Manny Pacquaio’s WBO welterweight title, but with Shane Mosley facing the “Pacman” in May, Brook has to look at other options as he aims to get a world title shot in the near future.
Brook, 24, has set his sights on taking on two-time world welterweight champion Paul Williams, who hasn’t fought since he was blown out in two rounds by Sergio Martinez last November after moving up two weight divisions in quick succession and has now decided to move back down to 147lbs.
WBO Inter-Continental champion Brook appeared on Barkery Jammeh’s Main Event Radio Show on Monday to announce that his contract with Frank Warren had recently expired and he would be looking at all his options, including staying with Sports Network, in the coming weeks before making a final decision.
