Kell Brook: Jones is Going To Meet a Very Angry Man

Kell Brook thought he would be spending the summer as a world champion, but will instead head to Hull on Saturday looking to put 10 months of turmoil behind him.

When the Sheffield welterweight beat Hector Saldivia in October it made him the mandatory challenger to Devon Alexander's IBF strap and a date was readily made with the American.

Three injury pull-outs - two from Brook - saw the moment pass, though, and with it went talk of a domestic super-fight with his verbal sparring partner Amir Khan.

However, Brook remains as the IBF's number one contender and could be back on the world stage soon, but must first deal with Jones - the man who pushed him so close to a first career loss when they met last June.

Brook claimed he was not in prime condition when he took a points decision and, after some hefty provocation from Jones when they met this week, promised to take out his frustrations on the American.

"He was at 100 percent that night and I was nowhere near," said Brook (29-0). "He's going to meet a very frustrated and angry man on Saturday. The last months have been so hard, with all that's happened, and I just want to get fighting again."

Jones was particularly chipper when accusing Brook of enjoying his food too much and quoting lines from the Rocky movies to him this week, but if the bout is anything like the last one, the Sheffield man may need the resolve of the fictional film star.

When they met 12 months ago Brook scraped through, with his shorts bleached red from the blood he had lost, and he is determined not to make such hard work of it this time around.

"That fight bugged me because I knew I had let myself down and cut some corners in the build-up," he added.

"I might have gone for someone easier, but I want to sort him out. I know he will be hard and test me, but I am in great shape and so ready for this fight.

"I have a lot of things to put right and I will make sure I do."
