It was announced by Showtime on Tuesday afternoon that as part of their upcoming schedule of fights, a March 4th bout between welterweight belt-holders, Keith Thurman (27-0, 22KOs) and Danny Garcia (32-0, 18KOs) would be taking place. And there's a chance this bout could land on CBS.

Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Showtime Sports ad Event Programming, told BoxingScene.com - ''We are going to have discussions with our colleagues at CBS about possibly airing that fight on prime time on CBS. Obviously, Keith's fight against Shawn Porter aired on CBS this past June and it seemed to be a good experience involved and certainly the action in the ring was worthy of the CBS platform."

On June 25th at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, Thurman battled Porter over twelve entertaining rounds and won a hard-fought decision that was well-received by the viewing public. That CBS broadcast was branded under the 'Showtime Championship Boxing banner.

"So I'm not sure where we'll end up, obviously CBS has other programming obligations, including some college basketball that time of the year but we'll have that resoled near the first of the year," stated Espinoza.

Before the fight takes place, Garcia is taking a stay busy fight on November 12th against huge underdog Samuel Vargas in Philadelphia. The fight is a ten round non-title encounter, which is headlining a Premier Boxing Champions televised tripleheader on Spike TV. Garcia's last fight took place back in January at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, where he captured the vacant WBC world title with a twelve round unanimous decision over former world champion Robert Guerrero.

Thurman is not taking an interim-fight and plans to wait, enjoy the holidays and remain in shape until he gets Garcia in the ring next year.
