Kalenga Warns Masternak To Not Look For One Big Shot
By Mike Coppinger
Youri Kalenga promises to KO Mateusz Masternak inside eight rounds Saturday when they clash for the WBA interim cruiserweight title in Monaco.
However, the power-punching Congo fighter said at today's news conference he won't be looking for one big punch, but will bombard the Pole with concussive combinations.
'I had an excellent training camp in France and Spain," Kalenga told BoxingScene.com. "This is the best preparation I have ever had and I am ready for war."
Kalenga (19-1, 13 KOs) has yet to face anyone of note and is taking a big jump in class with the challenge of Masternak. Masternak (32-1, 23 KOs) suffered his first pro defeat in 2013, a setback to Grigory Drozd.
Kalenga is managed by Gary Hyde, who also handles the careers of Guillermo Rigondeaux and Hassan NDam.
