K9's Wife Responds To 'No Talent' Jab From Christy Spinks

In an earlier article on BoxingScene.com, Christy Spinks, the wife of former two division champion Cory Spinks, revealed that her husband is hanging up the gloves. Spinks (39-8, 11KOs) lost a twelve round decision to Carlos Molina this past Friday in Chicago. Spinks has gone 3-5 in his last eight fights, including two TKO defeats to current IBF champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage.

In the retirement statement , Christy took a swipe at K9.

"As a wife I knew some fights ago that my husband wasn't himself. Any time you let K9 Bundrage beat you twice something is definitely wrong, because K9 Bundrage has absolutely no talent."

Shawana Brundrage, the manager and wife of K9 Bundrage, reached out to BoxingScene to respond:

I was disappointed to hear Spinks' wife's comments because we have each other's number. We text each other here and there.  In the messages there's nothing but love, and success for one another and well wishes to each other's husband.  We have also exchanged Facebook messages during those conversations; I showed her nothing but respect as a woman and love.  Being a God-Fearing, born-again Christian as myself, I would give her encouragement in The Lord as well.  The only reason why I responded is because we were in communication with each other.  If that wasn't the case, I would have never responded.

Her comments were very unprofessional but she's entitled to her own opinion, I have nothing bad to say about Spinks' wife.  I pray that she finds peace in her heart towards K9.  I also pray for the success of her marriage, and the success of raising their beautiful daughter they share.

The truth of the matter in boxing you win, you lose - these guys get in there and they go to war, they put their lives on the line for the sake of their families. Boxers are Warriors.

Speaking of Warriors, Everyone tune-in February 23 live on Showtime Championship Boxing and watch the champ K9 Bundrage perform.  Go get your tickets at ticket master starting at $25.00  it will be a big night of boxing for the City of Detroit.

[QUOTE=SlimTim;12990722]If Spinks in his prime was so great then why is he dead man walking at 35? I thought Spinks style was to box defensively. Obviously he's taken a lot of punishment over the years to be so shopworn now.…
