Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-3-1, 32 KOs) is planning to return to the ring on a date in October, at super middleweight, and the opponent he's targeting is Martin Murray of the UK.

Chavez Jr. was in action back in May, when he lost a twelve round decision to countryman Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight with Canelo took place at a catch-weight of 164.5-pounds - which killed Chavez to make. It was his lowest weight since he competed as a middleweight in 2012. He had no power and very little energy in the bout, doing next to nothing against Canelo.

Murray has a record of 35-4 and 16 KOs and a draw. In his last two outings, he picked up tough victories over Gabriel Rosado and Nuhu Lawal.

In the past, Murray suffered setbacks against George Groves, Arthur Abraham, Gennady Golovkin and Sergio Martinez. He lasted eleven rounds with Golovkin - which at the time was longer than anyone had ever lasted with GGG. This past March, Daniel Jacobs did one better by taking Golovkin the full twelve distance.

Chavez Jr. had hired the legendary Nacho Beristain for the bout with Canelo, but it remains to be seen if the Mexican boxer will continue forward with the veteran coach, based on what happened after the fight.

After that sonic failure against Canelo, Nacho broke off any responsibility by stating that Julio did inappropriate things before getting into the ring, like receiving a deep massage before the contest. He said he was willing to move forward with the boxer.

Things did not get any better for Chavez Jr. in the aftermath, when he became involved in scandal that went viral - as a video leaked to the internet, and the footage showed an intoxicated Chavez Jr. laying in a hotel bed surrounded by women wearing provocative outfits.
