Staples Center, Los Angeles, California - Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30KOs) captured the WBC middleweight title with a twelve round majority decision over previously undefeated Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10KOs). The scores were 114-114 for the draw, 115-113 and 116-112 for Chavez.

An active first round with Chavez taking the fight to Zbik, who returned fire with fast combinations. Chavez made it a war by staying on the inside and digging hooks to the body. Zbik used a good jab to get in his counters. Zbik continued to use his jab as the main weapon in the second. Chavez waited too long to get off with his shots, which allowed Zbik to get in the better punches.

They were trading some big punches in the third when Chavez got stunned by a Zbik combination. Chavez landed a hard right at the end. Zbik boxed in the fourth to hold Chavez at bay. They went back to trading in the fifth. Zbik controlled most of the action, but it was Chavez who rocked the champion with a hard right in the final ten seconds.

In the sixth and seventh, the tide began to change with Chavez landed a lot of hard shots to the head and body of Zbik. The champion was still landing a lot of shots of his own to Chavez's head. Zbik went back to his boxing in the eight and ninth, and then Chavez came back with his hard shots to the body in the tenth round.

In the eleventh, Chavez dominated the entire three minutes with hard hooks to the body. Zbik looked tired and fading bad from the body punishment. The twelfth round was close with Zbik going to the head and Chavez landing hard punches to the body and trying to press Zbik back.
