Judah's Trainer: Zab Had Bad Flu Before Malignaggi Loss

Text by Edward Chaykovsky, Interview by Chris Robinson

Yoel Judah, father and trainer of former two-division champion Zab Judah, claims his son was very ill prior to last month's twelve round decision loss to Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Zab, the harder puncher, was viewed by some as the favorite to win. Instead he was outboxed and dominated for most of the fight.

In the coming months, Zab is going to make one final run at a world title.

"I thought it was a stupid loss. He should have knocked Paulie out in four rounds. I told him that. He had some sort of flu, he was very sick that week. The Friday before the fight, he got really sick and cramped up. He couldn't pull the trigger, he should have knocked out Paulie out in four rounds. The flu he had was really bad and he couldn't pull the trigger," Yoel said.
It seemed like there was something wrong with him, but even so, he should call it a day. He's done.
Zab is starting to slur, he needs to retire.
As a big Zab fan, i feel you brother.... the guy with the coolest name in boxing. Hopefully he takes on some young guns and calls it quits... The last time he made me happy was when he destroyed Vernon…
