Judah: Matthysse a Much Harder Puncher Than Garcia

By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes

Former champion Zab Judah has now been in the ring with both Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) and Lucas Matthysse (33-2, 31KOs) - and indicates that Matthysse is a much harder puncher than Garcia. Judah won a razor-thin twelve round split decision over Matthysse in 2010 and lost a twelve round decision to Garcia on Saturday night.

Matthysse has been the mandatory challenger to Garcia's WBC junior welterweight title for some time but the fight never seems to come together. If Matthysse beats IBF champion Lamont Peterson on May 18th, Golden Boy appears to be ready to put him in the ring with Garcia.

"I can't be the judge on [who would win], but I can say that Lucas Matthysse is one of the hardest junior welterweight punchers in the division right now. He's one of those guys that you shouldn't sleep on. Danny has good skills. Danny is a good strong puncher too, but no disrespect to Danny - nothing like Lucas. Lucas punches hard with either hand. It's crazy that I beat him. Styles make fights," Judah said.
I didn't know this was something people would actually question. Matthysse has massive power, and might be the best pound for pound puncher in the sport. Garcia has very good power, and very well could win the fight if it…
Matthysse is kind of obviously the harder puncher, but Garcia has power. Him KO'in Khan is an accomplishment when he was the underdog who was supposed to lose
Everyone who watches khan knows that every fighter had a punchers chance…
I'm interested in seeing if either guy will be forced to decrease their output so as to conserve energy. Matthysse seemed to take his foot off the gas a little against Ajose in the mid rounds and wound up losing…
