Juanma's Manager Requests Hearing Over Suspension

By Rey Colon

Manager Orlando Piñero, who was suspended because of the minor riot which transpired after Juan Manuel Lopez lost his WBO featherweight crown on April 16, filed a request for a hearing before the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission, as confirmed by the commission president Dommys Delgado Berty.

"He made a request for a hearing and I am following the process," Berty said,

On the other hand, Delgado also confirmed that the vice president of PR Best Boxing Promotions, Peter Rivera, and former champion Juan Manuel Lopez, were both summoned by letter to a scheduled meeting to discuss what happened after the fight - where water bottles and other objects were thrown into the ring. Some of the individuals injured by the objects include the mayor of Guaynabo, Hector Ó 'Neill, and Carlos' Cidrita' Aponte, former mayor of Aguas Buenas and advisor to the Department of Recreation and Sports.
