Juan Manuel Lopez, the former WBO featherweight champion, wished Orlando Salido luck with his scheduled ten round tuneup, which takes place this Saturday against Weng Haya in Durango, Mexico. Despite rumors, Juanma advised BoxingScene.com that a rematch with Salido is going to happen in the month of March, in Puerto Rico, at the José Miguel Agrelot or Roberto Clemente Coliseum - and fight will be televised by Showtime. In April, Salido stopped Lopez to capture the WBO crown in Puerto Rico.
"The rematch with Salido will happen in March. He is talking a lot of stuff out there but the fact is we are going to fight again. The month of March has five weeks and it should happen on the 17th, 24th or 31st. One of those dates will be my fight. We believe it will be on the 24th. We are already preparing for that battle," said Lopez (31-1, 28 KOs).
Despite Top Rank's request to train in Big Bear, California, Lopez will move his training camp from Puerto Rico to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He doesn't want to go to Big Bear in the coming weeks, fearing the very cold weather and heavy snow.
"We are looking at Fort Lauderdale, in a place where we can train like Miguel Cotto. We are awaiting the official date [of the fight] from Mr. Bob Arum before we choose one of those places [to train]," he said.
