Sources close to the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that a rematch between featherweights Orlando Salido and Juan Manuel Lopez is being pursued for an earlier date, with the month of August being the target - and not a date in November or December as originally quoted by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

Last Saturday in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Salido (35-11-2, 23KOs) stopped Lopez at 1:39 of the eight round after referee Roberto Ramirez felt Lopez (30-1, 27 KOs) was taking too much punishment and stepped in.

Salido was hoping to make the first defense of his title on a July date in Sonora, Mexico, but Lopez's people are pushing for a rematch to take place as soon as possible.
