| Juanma: Miguel Cotto Should Rest, Then Fight Canelo

By Jhonny Gonzalez Former champion Juan Manuel Lopez has advised his Puerto Rican countryman, former three division beltholder Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs), to target a fight with WBC champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (40-0-1, 29KOs) of Mexico. Juanma was proud of Cotto's performance from last weekend in Las Vegas against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Cotto lost a twelve round decision and his WBA title. Canelo is going to return on Septemebr 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. No opponent has been named, but James Kirkland has been mentioned as a possibility. "Cotto does not have to lower his head. He was fighting against the best fighter in the world and looked good. I think Cotto should take a few months off and then I think [he should take] a fight with Canelo.
