Juan Manuel Marquez has become increasingly clear about what he wants. The Mexican veteran would like to fight in June and then have another fight in October or November in this year.

Marquez revealed that he was offered the chance to fight in Mexico City on April 1, tentatively in the capital's Zocalo, but he did took a pass on the date - because he wasn't confident with arriving in the best possible condition.

The former four division world champion has been inactive since May of 2014, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Mike Alvarado.

Marquez, at 43 years old, believes that he's got enough gas left in the tank for a few more fights before retiring from the sport for good.

"They wanted me to fight here (in Mexico City), but it seems they wanted it to be on April 1, and April 1 is coming up very fast and right now we're training at a mid-low pace to start recovering the movements, the rhythm, which is an important part for a boxer," Marquez told ESPN Deportes/

"On Wednesday I did like 18-19 rounds [of training exercises] consisting of four minutes each. We'll keep on training, it is important to have enough time to get in good condition."

"We have to see the dates that the head of government (Miguel Angel Mancera) has. He has the date in April, we know that May is a difficult month for what is happening with the Canelo-Julio fight and other fights, but I'm thinking about a date in June....... it would be a good date, before people leave on vacation. Then I'll get the  rhythm again, take a rest, start the pace again and then why not think about [a fight in] October or November."

Marquez will not be able to train full-time with career coach Nacho Beristan, and conditioning trainer Angel "memo" Heredia, as both are preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for his fight with Canelo Alvarez on May 6.

The next opponent is up in the air, but the target fight for the fall would be a showdown with Puerto Rican superstar Miguel Cotto, at a catch-weight.
