Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs), 41-years-old, returned to training at the Romanza Gym in Mexico and he already suffered a setback with a minor knee injury.
Marquez has been inactive since winning a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado on May 17th in California.
The Mexican veteran has rejected several proposed fight, because he wants to go for a fifth divisional title. At the moment he doesn't know if he intends to fight any longer. He plans to make a decision regarding his future in February. Marquez says the problem with the knee is not serious and it actually first started bothering him even prior to the fight with Alvarado.
"We trained on Monday and Tuesday and everything was fine, but on Wednesday we started training and I began to [have an issue with the] right knee, and right now the important thing is to treat it and see if we can return the following week to train and see what happens in the future," Marquez told ESPN Deportes.
