BoxingScene.com was advised that WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez will now return on July 16, and not July 2 as previously reported. The fight will take place in Mexico City and Azteca will likely televise the show. BoxingScene was told promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions will co-promote the event with Juan Manuel's company, Marquez Promotions. The opponent is still to be determined. Marquez wanted former lightweight champion David Diaz, but I've been told the two sides are not even in the same galaxy in terms of the money.

Marquez wants to use the July return to shake off any rust as he prepares to meet Manny Pacquiao in a trilogy fight on November 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao-Marquez will take place at a catch-weight of 144-pounds.
