August 19 is now the date being contemplated by four division world champion Juan Manuel 'Dinamita' Marquez, for his planned ring return after years of being inactive.

Marquez is simply waiting to get a green light from his doctor, and a confirmation from Zanfer Promotions regarding the date, location and venue.

As BoxingScene.com reported a few weeks ago, Marquez was in deep training for his planned return but suffered an injury to his left bicep.

Prior to his latest injury, Marquez had been planning to fight on a date in late July. But the injury made him push everything back by a few weeks.

Despite the injury, Marquez continued his training camp with Hall of Fame coach Nacho Beristain at the Romanza Gym in Mexico.

"The recovery [for the left bicep] was ending this week or part of the following week, and there is nothing else to see the doctor about. That's what he told us to do. We have been practically working only with the right hand for three weeks," said Marquez to ESPN Deportes.

"The date [of my return] seems to be August 19, but the doctor's green light is missing."

Marquez has not fought professionally since May 2014 when he defeated Mike Alvarado on points at the Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles in a welterweight brawl. This time his return would also be at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds.

Over the years, Marquez had planned to return on several occasions, but a lingering knee injury made it difficult to train and forced him to withdraw from a few planned dates. Since starting training camp a few months ago, Marquez has not complained of any issues related to his knee.

Juan Manuel will be turning 44 years old on August 23. He hopes to move forward with this upcoming return, and then intends to secure a major fight to close out his Hall of Fame career.
