It's been over two years since former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez entered the ring.

There were months of negotiations for a potential catch-weight bout with fellow four division champion Miguel Cotto, but the two sides were unable to reach an agreement on the weight. Marquez demanded the welterweight limit of 147, while Cotto was unwilling to go any lower than 150.

During the most recent episode of Golpe a Golpe, Marquez refused to answer the call of  retirement and said he was still mulling his future and the possibility of fighting again.

The 43-year-old is being supported by longtime trainer Nacho Beristain. The Hall of Fame coach will back Marquez's decision, either way. He would rather see Marquez retire at this point, but understands if he wants to have a farewell fight.

"The truth is that for now there is nothing on my mind. I do not feel that I'm in a position where I can truly say that I'll return or that were are definitely not going to do anything. We'll see what happens, we'll move forward and see what the future holds," Marquez said.

There could be a possibility that Marquez is waiting out the outcome of the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Jessie Vargas. If Vargas was able to pull off the upset, he could be an option as Marquez's dream is to capture a fifth world championship in a fifth weight class - specifically in the welterweight division.
