Former four division world champion Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez, 41-years-old, is looking to have one more fight before retirement. Marquez (56-7-1, 40KOs) has been away from the ring since last May, when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Mike Alvarado at The Forum in Los Angeles, California.
Marquez has made attempts to return in the last twelve months, but a lingering knee injury has continued to delay his plans. Several training camps have been disrupted by the injury.
After months of rehabilitation, Marquez will sit down with his doctor in a month's time and make a final decision on his career.
"I want to keep fighting, at least to have one more fight . My family has asked me to leave boxing, but I want to do another fight - because I still feel good. However, the final decision will be made within a month, as that will be when the doctors will advise me if I can be well enough [to return to the ring] with respect to the injury that I have on my one knee, which I have treating for a while," Marquez said.
