One of the opponents being considered is Mexican-American David Diaz, a Chicago-born fighter with a record of 36 wins, 17 KOs, three defeats and one draw. Marquez wants to have a July fight to shake off the rust before facing Manny Pacquiao in a possible trilogy meeting in the fall. Diaz, a former WBC lightweight champion, has a decision win over Erik Morales, but later lost the title when he was knocked out by Manny Pacquiao in nine rounds.
