Juan Diaz Withdraws From David Torres Bout, 7/29

By David "Los Gatos" Rosenberg

The return of former undisputed lightweight champion Juan Diaz (35-4, 17 KOs) will not happen as planned. Diaz's team members have been informing various parties that he doesn't plan on moving forward with a scheduled ring return on July 29 at the Cosmopilitan in Las Vegas. He was scheduled to face David Torres. Instead, Diaz will to attend law school and achieve his personal goal of becoming an attorney. Diaz, 27, has dropped three out of his last four fights and hasn't won a fight since a controversial split decision over Paulie Malignaggi in August of 2009.

Good decision by Juan. He knows exactly what he's doing to better himself in life. I hope he does well in Dartmouth

Cant blame the guy for escaping the meat grinder before it consumes him. He had a career he can be proud of if this is it for him.

Well if Juan doesn't return, good luck to him.
