Edgewater Casino, Laughlin, Nevada - In a battle of super featherweights, Juan Carlos Burgos (30-1, 20KOs) stopped previously undefeated Cesar Vazquez (25-1, 16KOs) at 1:50 of the third round. Burgos caught Vazquez with a hard left hook and then unleashed a heavy flurry of punches as Vazquez was trapped against the ropes, and then referee Tony Weeks jumped in to stop the action.

Welterweight Prenice Brewer (16-3-1, 6KOs), coming off a decision loss to Ronald Cruz, lost his second bout in a row. He dropped an eight round split decision to Aaron Martinez (18-1-1, 4KOs). The scores were 77-75 for Matinez, 77-75 for Brewer and 77-75 for Martinez.

Super featherweight Vitor-Freitas Jones (1-0, 1KO), the nephew of boxing great Acelino Freitas, made his pro debut with a first round stoppage of late replacement Rocko Espinoza (3-6).

That was a great performance for Burgos. It was funny to hear the crowd boo when it was announced there was a split decision for the Aron Martinez-Prenice Brewer undercard. Don't see how that judge would have Brewer winning that fight.
