Josesito Lopez could return to the ring as early as the first part of November, Thompson Boxing General Manager and matchmaker Alex Camponovo told Boxingscene.com late last week.
That will depend on when Lopez would be cleared to train in the gym.
“If everything goes as scheduled, and the doctors clear him, the target date for his next fight will be in early November,” said Camponovo.
Lopez (30-6, 18 KOs) was scheduled to fight Aron Martinez at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA on September 6th. The bout was to have been part of a Showtime triple-header telecast. The fight fell through when Lopez suffered a muscle strain in his chest about a month before the fight during training camp in Phoenix, AZ.
No word yet on whom Lopez would fight, but Martinez would still seem to be the logical choice as both fighters are promoted by Thompson Boxing.
In his last bout on June 8th, Lopez was stopped in the sixth round at the hands of Marcos Maidana at the Home Depot Center (now Stubhub Center) in Carson, CA.
