Joseph Parker's promoter Dean Lonergan's locked in number one Japanese heavyweight boxer Kyotaro Fujimoto for his next bout in Invercargill on August 1st.
Parker will fight the 28-year-old Fujimoto after his second round TKO win over German Yakup 'The Scorpion' Saglam in Palmerston North.
Fujimoto is a former professional kickboxer (18 wins, 5 loses) and current Japanese champion, but the fight in Invercargill will be his first outside of Japan. He holds an 11-1 record in boxing.
Duco Events representative Dean Lonergan said he has been keen to secure Fujimoto for some time.
"He's an ex-K1 kickboxing champion, he's won the title twice, he is 28, he is in the prime of his life and he throws leather. It will be an explosive fight," said Lonergan.
Fujimoto's list of opponents is relatively unimpressive and his loss came against former Australian rugby league professional Solomon Haumono in Osaka three years ago.
