Joseph Parker continued his run as a heavyweight prospect on the rise, stopping Germany's Yakup Saglam inside of two rounds Saturday evening (local time) in Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Given the local favorite's progressing talent and his opponent's penchant for getting knocked out whenever stepping up, the question wasn't so much if Parker would win but in what fashion.

A hint of an answer to that question came in the opening seconds of the contest. Parker—trained by world-class boxing veteran Kevin Barry—set the tone early in the fight, never allowing Saglam a chance to believe he had a chance to win the fight.

Saglam left with the slight moral victory of hearing the bell to end round one. His good fortunes wouldn't extend any further than the one minute rest period as Parker immediately went on the attack in round two. A  right hand put Saglam (34-4, 31KO) on the canvas early in round two, at which point the corner literally threw in the towel to rescue the fallen fighter.

The official time of the stoppage was 0:45 of round two.

Parker improves to 14-0 (12KOs) with the win, his second of the year. The 23-year old heavyweight is due to return on August 1 against an opponent to be determined.

The bout streamed via slight delay on ESPN3.com.
