PONCE, PUERTO RICO - Before a delirious crowd of more than 2,000 people at the Coliseum Salvador Dijols of Ponce, WBC 130-pound junior champion, Jose "Sniper" Pedraza (7-0, 6KO's), stopped veteran Anthony "Psycho" Woods (17-9, 3KO's) at the 2:30 of the fourth round, when Woods' corner threw in the towel.
Pedraza, fighting for the first time at the lightweight limit, had control of the fight at all times, by applying pressure and landing hard shots to the head and body. Woods attempted to respond but he was countered nearly every time, suffering more punishment in the process.
"I feel good. This was a good fight for me because I faced an opponent with more fights and experience than me. Now, the next step is to return to the gym and keep working hard to become a future world champion," said Pedraza, a boxer promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, Universal Promotions and DiBella Entertainment.
