Jose Felix Jr. (22-0) capped off an impressive 2012 with his 3rd round knockout of Meacher Major on December 15th in Houston, TX. The victory brought his mark for the year to 3-0 and was highlighted by his upset victory over Luis Cruz in September. Felix points to his ESPN televised victory over Cruz for building his confidence.
"There is always more motivation when the odds are against me. I always am motivated but that motivated me even more and now I am even more confident because of that fight," Felix explained.
The 20-year-old Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico native took a break for the holidays but hopes to break through even further in 2013. With Juan Manuel Lopez, Rocky Martinez, and Diego Magdaleno campaigning in the super featherweight division and fighting under the Top Rank banner, Felix shouldn't have to wait too long for another big fight.
"I am going to return to the gym in January to start preparing for my next fight. I hope that I can get back in the ring in February or March. I think I am ready for the top guys in the division now but I will fight whoever my team puts in front of me," Felix told Boxingscene.com.
