Jorge Solis Hits Atlantic City, Ready For Gamboa Bout

By Rafael Soto

ATLANTIC CITY - Jorge "Coloradito" Solis is already in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where on Saturday he will take part in a career defining fight. Solis (40-2-2,29 KOs) will look for his second divisional title when he faces Yuriorkis" Cyclone of Guantanamo. Gamboa (19-0-0, 15 KOs) is the featherweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF). The show will be co-promoted by Zanfer and Top Rank and televised by TV Azteca in Mexico and in the United States by HBO.

"I've arrived at 100%. I had a strong and intense preparation in Guadalajara. On Friday I did 14 rounds with great intensity and they went smooth. I left with a lot of motivation to win," Solis said upon arriving to Atlantic City.

"I'm a natural 126 pounder and I went to super feather because there came the opportunity to win a world title. I'll be strong at this weight on Saturday. We have several strategies to address the Cuban. We have analyzed his strengths and weaknesses, and plan to decrease his speed with blows to the body. He is a very fast and strong opponent, but goes down when you attack and do not know what to do. Beating Gamboa will bring me to the big leagues of boxing, big purses and that's what I want.

It's been a pleasure watching Gamboa grow into the fighter he is today. He's been one of my favorites for years now... He will come of age in this fight! Gamboa will put in WORK this weekend! :boxing:

Watching Jorge Solis is hard because you never know which Solis is going to show up in the fight. While Gamboa is still fresh and hungry so you know who to expect showing up in the fight. I'll be cheering…
