Jorge Paez Looking To Inch His Way To WBC Title Shot

By Rafael Soto
Jorge "Maromerito" Paez is looking to put himself in a position for a title shots on Saturday night at Plaza Calafia in Mexicali. "Maromerito" Páez (32-4-1, 19 KOs) will go for the WBC Silver welterweight world championship when he faces the Venezuelan and Fedecentro Champion Charlie Jose Navarro (22-5-0, 17 KOs). The card is presented by Zanfer and broadcast by Azteca.

Paez is coming off five straight wins, including two over solid prospect Omar Chávez, the younger son of Mexican boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez. Paez is hoping to position himself to a title shot opportunity. The current "full" WBC welterweight champion is Floyd Mayweather Jr., and the interim-champion is Robert Guerrero.

P jr has really poor mgnmt representing him but anyway, if he goes vs any 1 in Guerero's cclass he'll get hammered...he's competitive but not world class...

He deserves it for beating Chavez twice and always being on the receiving end of **** negotiations.
