Jorge Melendez-Yuri Foreman in Play For June 7 PPV

By Giancarlo "Mr. Boxing"[email protected]

Dangerous Puerto Rican puncher and WBC CABOFE super welterweight champion Jorge "Destroyer" Melendez (28-3-1, 26KOs) will be seeing action on June 7th at Madison Square Garden in New York City, as part of the undercard where Miguel Cotto will be facing WBC middleweight champion, Sergio Martinez, in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View.

Melendez’s opponent will be former world champion Yuri Foreman (32-2, 9KOs), who is known in Puerto Rico for his fights against Daniel Santos and Miguel Cotto.

Foreman knocked out Jovany Gomez in his last fight in the first round and Melendez scored a decision win over Richard Gutierrez last weekend.

Also in action on this card, Felix Verdejo, José Pedraza and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.

Foreman is a huge step up for Melendez, especially in New York. The last guy Melendez fought had 12 losses and he went the distance in Puerto Rico. This is no sure thing.
