Puerto Rico's Jorge "Destroyer" Melendez (25-2-1-24 KO's) is ready to make his Las Vegas debut, the most important center of the boxing world. Melendez is promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions. Melendez had no problems scoring the weight of 156 pounds, while his opponent Ryan Davis (24-9-3, 9KO's) topped the scale at 158 pounds.
"I feel mentally and physically good, i'm excited, ready to give a great show to all my people of Puerto Rico," expressed Melendez who will be defending his super welterweight WBO Latino championship.
"There are very good opportunities popping into my life. I'm very grateful to my promoter Miguel Cotto and my handlers. Showtime said nice things to us. I am very well motivated," express Melendez. "Talking does not win battle in the ring. 10 others have said they will stop my streak and 10 have failed. I know he will not withstand my power or my pressure. We are going to train to win."
Melendez vs. Davis will be the main event of the Showtime Extreme broadcast later today from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas as part of the undercard starring Richard Abril vs. Sharif Bogere in the Showtime main event.
Also on the card, Puerto Rican boxer Jeffrey "Dynamite" Fontanez (10-0, 9KO's) who will be facing the embattled Daniel Attah (28-13-1, 11KO's).
