Jorge Melendez Back on May 31, Against Alfonso Gomez?

By Rey Colon

The hard-hitting junior middleweight Jorge 'Destroyer' Melendez (26-2-1, 25 KO's) will return to action on May 31 as part of a function being televised on Showtime in the state of Florida and his potential rival could be the Mexican veteran Alfonso Gomez (23-6-2, 12 KO's), according to Melendez's manager Edwin Diaz.

"He would be the headliner and we're trying to find an opponent like Gomez. The network is very happy with the Destroyer because he scored a pair of spectacular knockouts. If everything goes well, we'll have another fight in August of September, also on Showtime. It's a really big card and Jorge would be in the co-feature," Diaz said.
