Jorge Linares Will Return To The Ring in March, April

EDITOR'S NOTE: Although Linares was penciled in to be on the show, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz advised BoxingScene.com that he won't see action on February 23rd in Detroit. Linares will return on a date in March or April, says Diaz.

Former champion Jorge Linares (32-3, 20KOs) will return on February 23rd in Detroit, according to Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz. Linares was previously being announced to return on a March date in Panama.

The card is taking place at the Mosaic Theatre and Cornelius "K9" Bundrage (32-4, 19 Kos) will defend hs IBF junior middleweight title in the main event against Ishe Smith (24-5, 11 KOs). Showtime is televing the card.

"[Linares' return] will be in Detroit, Michigan, on February 23, but I still don't have an opponent," Diaz said.

Linares is now training in Las Vegas with Cuban trainer Ismael Salas.

hoped Linares would've been on a better show...k9's bout is garbage...sorry this was the best Showtime could do...

Linares is too talented to not get back into title contention.

Salas was polishing Gamboa's reckless style nicely till he was fired so let's see if he can work on Linares as well. Salas got a few good fighters in Linares and Jack Culcay. I think Yundale Evans is good too…
