MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In a WBC final lightweight eliminator, former champion Jorge Linares (36-3, 23KOs) boxed his way to a ten round lopsided unanimous decision over tough as nails Nihito Arakawa (24-4-1, 16KOs). The scores were 98-92, 100-90, 100-90

Linares used his better footwork, boxing ability, and speed, to keep Arakawa at bay for the first two rounds. Arakawa began to find a home for his punches in the third and things were getting closer as both were landing well in the fourth.

Linares went back to boxing in the fifth, tagging Arakawa with accurate shots on the inside and from the distance. He was using defense and stayed on his toes for several of the following rounds. During the eight, there was a clash of heads that opened up a small cut around Linares' left eye. In the final two rounds, they were trading leather but it was Linares who controlled the action with his boxing ability.

Good performance from Jorge, he still stands in front of his opponent and waits for the receipt when he's tired, but at least now he knows how to clinch and recuperate. I don't like his chances against Figueroa, but I think he would beat Vazquez easy. Fights against Abril and Crawford would be i...

I thought title eliminators were always 12 rounds? Linares was clearly winning the fight, but he would've beat DeMarco too if their fight had been 10 rounds. Linares has still never been 12 rounds in his career and the one time he went past the 10th he was stopped. Thats boxing politics thoug...

What are these two guys doing in a title eliminator? Oh wait it is the WBC! Never mind!

linares is good but he is kinda of like gabe rosado where his face cuts up almost every time out. Linares vs figueroa would be a good match up but id rather see Figueroa vs Thompson two sluggers slugging it out

Even though the fights have been all action, I sincerely hope no promoter EVER puts this many little guys on a PPV card again
